Parkinson's Group: The Gut-Brain Axis in PD

Gastrointestinal complaints are common in PD and may start years before the onset of tremor, slowness, rigidity and gait disorders.  Dr. Kathleen Shannon will discuss evidence that critical gastrointestinal functions are impaired in PD, and that these abnormalities may be clues to the onset or progression of the disease. Dr. Shannon is a Movement Disorders neurologist and Chair of the Dept. of Neurology at UW-Madison School of Medicine & Public Health.  Her research interests include clinical trials of promising new therapies  & GI abnormalities in PD.
